Throughout history, the Masters were often commissioned directly by the church, or by wealthy individuals who believed that art should reflect great fealty to religious subjects. Portraits of the Holy Family abound in fine art. Advent, ca. 1950 (2017), explores how they might be portrayed if Jesus had returned in the mid-twentieth century. I whimsically offer up my own baby picture in this endeavor.
