Any art enthusiast who has spent much time in museums, will have seen that ‘nudes’ are a favorite subject of the Masters from the thirteenth century onward.  Nude on a Red Couch (or chair) is a recurring title, particularly in impressionist paintings.  In deference to viewers’ sensitivities, artists generally favor the female form with its less confrontational genitalia.  My Nude on a Red Couch (2018), counters that favoritism with a young man, au natural and in his full glory, albeit on a somewhat tattered couch.
